A real 'back to '89' survivor, had a full body-off resto by a mate of mine back in the early 90s (I've known the car since then and know the work carried out- that's why I bought it around 6 years ago) using all the best panels available (full pan halves, both heater channels, fr/back bumper hangers and valances, NOS doors etc) has had the usual 'early look' mods but looks decent as it's a small back window '69. Now has Day Moulding wings and early race-weight fibreglass bonnet (attached with 'pins) Britax rag-top in full working order in great cond. Paint is Porsche apricot which has been re-done over the last few years- worst part is seam (see pic) but hasn't got worse over the last few years. Not show-car standard but very good. Has had recent 2"narrowed adj. axle, uprated fr. roll bar, Spax Adj. all round, new steering box, overhauled brakes, H/D engine mounts etc…polished Rocket 5 spokes, good tyres all round Interior was re-done a few years back, all new trim, new belts fr/back, new carpets, Autometer tach, Grant 'wheel, Flat4 Eliminator shifter I've used this as our second car, a sorted and solid honest bug- I've been involved with aircooled VWs for over 25 years Can be supplied with an overhauled good 1300 SP standard Engine or see engine spec below ENGINE SOLD A huge amount of time and thought has gone into this motor (as well as the obvious expense) 25 years of listening and learning….assembled and designed by Jay of Bugshop This is one of the sweetest sounding and smoothest running T1 motors you'll ever feel, drives like a stocker or scare the shit out of yourself (or anyone who dares try you off the lights) Been used as a second car and set up so well you'll get MPG as a 1600 TP if driven sensibly - has just over 8K miles on. All of the parts were bought in 2008 before we were hit with quality issues. Hard as nails. can't remember the compression ratio but can get it off the builder. I wish you could keep it nev, this is a car I have admired for many years, THE car that directed my attention to beetles when I was just a kid. |
