Hello, Cheers for that. I managed to flush everything out but my water is still boiling after only running it for 5-10mins. I'm totally bewildered as to what it might be. It has had new thermostat, nice new coolant (that is anti boil!!!), total oil change. The blue cap on my coolant tank is knackered could this account for lack of pressure resulting in the boiling? Please help..... Ta ben |

Surely the warning is to say do not remove cap when engine hot as it will be under pressure and scalding!! You can quite happliy run with the cap off.infact if engine is running hot this is an old trick to keep it cooler. Have you checked the engine breather pipes arent blocked |

I would have thought the water pump failing would cause the engine to overheat excessively before the water was seen to be boiling but it really depends on the set up/location of the header tank. My old 5 series BMW kept overheating but never boiled the water (until the cap was taken off). It was plagued with air locks though. |
